Choosing Between Dresses

When my brother and I were driving home this evening, he asked me, “Ano ba iniisip mo?” I then realized I had not been my usual makulit self when we’re in the car together. I was really quiet on the drive home. I had been pondering about a situation. Do you know that feeling when you were so excited to buy something.. let’s say a dress, and you really want to have a new dress that you grab the first dress you lay eyes upon. Then later on as you stroll the mall, you’ll realize that there are lots of more wonderful dresses but you already spent your money on that first dress. You could return the dress, but you can’t just say to the sales clerk that you changed your mind. It would be too embarrassing. So you’re stuck with that dress.

More often than not, we are in haste to have everything right now. But sometimes, waiting is the best thing to do to have the best things in life.

Now, are you wondering what I was thinking about. My brother would say at this point, “Use the KISS method. Keep It Simple, Stupid!” haha! This is nothing serious though. So just let me blabber.

The Good Ones

It is quite exhilarating how I got to finish almost everything on my to – do list today. On top of that I got to spend time with some of my closest friends.

I drove my brother to his choir practice this afternoon. Out of the blue, I decided to ask M out to dinner. She agreed. C and J went along with us. Not long after, S joined us as well.

The conversation wasn’t that thick but I enjoyed the company, none the less. I just realized that I have known these people for quite some time now. I have grown with them, have come to love their families and have grown to love their quirks.

M is a bit older than me and she has always been my “guide”. Over the years, our relationship grew from being that of a d-leader – d-member to a true friendship. What makes our friendship true is that I trust her and her pieces of advice. She listens well too. I just know that even if I fail terribly at times, she will be there, to scold and to care.

C, I have known since high school. Earlier tonight she reminded me of the times when she would email me or text me about nothingness. She said we were very close then. To which I violently reacted, “Ngayon ba hindi?!”. I do think we’re close, C and I. It’s just that we share things on a different level now; a more mature level. Even though we don’t text each other often, even though we don’t talk often, I appreciate her and everything she has done for me.

S, well, so many things could be said about S. In high school, I saw him as the “payat” boy in section 3 but now not only is he not payat anymore, just kidding. Seriously, now, I see a man, with great leadership skills and an ultimate desire to seek God’s will. Sure, he has his flaws, but they all could be ignored (especially if ililibre mo ko lagi! Haha).

After a few hours of kwentuhan we decided to call it a night. A decade of knowing these very special people was not enough to let me realize how blessed I am that they allowed me to be part of their lives. Life is all about relationships; the good ones and the bad. And I’m just glad that my life is full of great relationships with great people.

Change is Here

When Obama rallied his slogan, “Change is Here” a lot of people became hopeful, excited even. But whenever I hear the word change, I cringe. I hate change. Change is uncomfortable. It is even painful most of the time. Change ensues starting all over again. Sameness, on the other hand, is safe. I love the old and the familiar. I love comfort. I love sameness. I hate change.

But it is very futile to hate something that is inevitable. Change, as they say, is permanent. And as I stand and take a step back to look at my life I can sense that change is about to happen. I’m not really sure why or where it will happen; I just know it will happen soon. I dread the moment. My heart beat hastens now just thinking about it. But at the same time I think I’m excited. Excited for the could be’s and the would be’s.

I am certain that there is more to me than who I am now. I also know that God has planned a very special path for me to walk on. And I know that that path, whatever sacrifice it entails, is the best path for me.

Maybe I am changing even without me knowing it. Unconsciously, maybe I am being a better person. Unconscious change. Painless change.

At present, I’m just kind of floating. I just let things happen, when they happen. I’m being passive and submissive. I worry less too. Maybe this is the secret to stress free living; not trying to control everything.

I don’t know what “change” will happen. As far as I’m concerned, everything seems just like the way they are, the way they’re supposed to be. But I’m bracing myself.

Please Don't Stop The Rain

I've always loved the sound of soft rain as I open my eyes to a new day. Soft drizzles in the morning... It just makes me want to stay in bed longer and just listen to the sounds of a great morning.

But it's only now that I realize how rain during the night could be so soothing and relaxing too! I think I'll be sleeping soundly tonight. :big smile:

And as I was driving yesterday, I heard JamesMorrison's new song and I instantly fell in love with it. James Morrison had me at.. well, Broken Strings. His voice just feels like "butter rolling down on a warm toast". hahaha!

Here's the lyrics to my song of the moment;
Please Don't Stop The Rain
I don't know where I crossed the line
Was it something that I said
Or didn't say this time
And I don't know if it's me or you
But I can see the skies are changing
In all the shades of blue
And I don't know which way it's gonna go

If it's gonna be a rainy day
There's nothing we can do to make it change
We can pray for sunny weather
But that won't stop the rain
Feeling like you got no place to run
I can be your shelter 'til it's done
We can make this last forever
So please don't stop the rain

(Let it fall, let it fall, let it fall)
Please don't stop the rain
(Let it fall, let it fall, let it fall)
Please don't stop the rain

I thought that time was on our side
I've put in far too many years
To let this pass us by
You see life is a crazy thing
There'll be good time and there'll be bad times
And everything in between
And I don't know which way it's gonna go

If it's gonna be a rainy day
There's nothing we can do to make it change
We can pray for sunny weather
But that won't stop the rain
Feeling like you got no place to run
I can be your shelter 'til it's done
We can make this last forever
So please don't stop the rain

(Let it fall, let it fall, let it fall)
Please don't stop the rain
(Let it fall, let it fall, let it fall)
Please don't stop the rain

Oh we're a little closer now
And finding what life's all about
Yeah I know you just can't stand it
When things don't go your way
But we've got no control over what happens anyway
